چکیده

Cor triatriatum sinister is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly with an incidence of between 0.1 and 0.4% [1,2] whereby the left atrium is functionally and anatomically divided into two separate chambers by a thin membrane. Although there are a limited number of reports of successful ablation of left atrial focal tachycardia and simple pulmonary vein isolation in individuals with cor triatriatum sinister [3-5], these involved ablation within a single atrial chamber only. To the best of our knowledge ablation in all three atrial chambers has not previously been described. We report a case of extensive ablation of long-lasting persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) encompassing pulmonary vein antral ablation with isolation combined with additional substrate modification involving ablation within both the supero-posterior and infero-anterior left atrial chambers in addition to the right atrium and the coronary sinus a four chambered ablation approach.

Cor Triatriatum Sinistrum Presenting as Cyanotic Congenital Heart Disease A Rare Case Report

Cor triatriatum is an acyanotic congenital heart disease. We present a rare case of cor triatriatum sinistrum in a 6-month-old female infant who was presented with cyanosis and failure to thrive. The 2D transthoracic echocardiography and the Doppler color flow imaging showed a proximal venous chamber communicating to the distal left atrium  through restrictive opening to the low-pressure, dis...

Getting to the right left atrium: Catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation and mitral annular flutter in cor triatriatum

Cor triatriatum is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly that is characterized by a thin membrane separating the left atrium both functionally and anatomically. Patients with cor triatriatum are at risk for atrial arrhythmias, which can be especially symptomatic owing to a functional mitral stenosis physiology. We present a case of a patient with cor triatriatum and drug-refractory atrial fibrillat...

Cor Triatriatum Sinister diagnosed in adult life with three dimensional transesophageal echocardiography

BACKGROUND Cor triatriatum is a very rare congenital abnormality, usually symptomatic during childhood, diagnosis in adult age is less common. CASE PRESENTATION We report the case of a 40 years old woman referred to our hospital for atrial flutter ablation, transthoracic cardiac bidimensional echocardiography showed an abnormal membrane bisecting the left atrium, the diagnosis of cor triatria...

Cor Triatriatum Sinister Identified after New Onset Atrial Fibrillation in an Elderly Man

A 73-year-old man with new onset atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response underwent transthoracic echocardiography that revealed an echogenic linear structure along the left atrium, suggestive of cor triatriatum sinister (CTS). CTS was confirmed with transesophageal echocardiography which demonstrated a proximal accessory atrium receiving pulmonary venous flow separated from a distal...

Atrial fibrillation and cor triatriatum sinister: a case report.

A 29-year-old man presented to our hospital with palpitations, shortness of breath, and orthopnea. After being admitted, he progressed to cardiogenic shock and respiratory failure, which required ventilator support and cardioversion. Subsequent evaluation revealed a fibromuscular membrane across the left atrium, requiring urgent corrective surgery.
